It was all lovely and summery this afternoon. Sheets snapping on the line weather. So we went out for hours and hours and variously basked, baked and savoured.
We wandered round bits of the city we’ve never seen before, saw Polish men in shell suits, found Mrs Pettigrew’s dream house, and stalked a woman with a pushchair to see where she was going.
We ended up in Castle Park until I got sick of all the students milling about. I’d forgotten how much I loathe them.
It’s been a jolly fine day.
The baby’s in bed, the husband’s out. I’ve got the house to myself.
So I’m sat in front of the fire eating jam doughnuts and listening to Billie Holliday.
Yeah.
We had a special visit from a particularly hairy granddad today. Little D got dressed up especially. And then proceeded to cry for a good proportion of the day. It was the excitement, I’m sure.
But it was rather nice for the rest of us. We got a slap up Sunday lunch from Pee and went for a nice walk round the park. We stopped off to play on the new gym equipment there which, surprisingly, was receiving a lot of attention from the locals. I’ve only ever seen one person using it before. We discovered that I can no longer even hold my own dangling weight, let alone do a chin up. For shame. We also got to giggle at granddad having a bit of a workout.
It was so nice to get out without having to worry about ice and snow and slush and filth. I think D and I will be going on some rather big walks this week.
