D and I had a very nice trip in to see mummy’s friends at work this afternoon. General concensus was that D is beautiful. Which is correct.

The day was only slightly marred by the fact that either going there or getting back home I managed to lose my phone. Again. And this time I’m pretty certain that it’s not going to turn up under a pile of washing on the dining table. Why am I so terrible at keeping phones? I knew I shouldn’t have just lobbed it into the pram. I’m such an idiot.

So don’t bother phoning me. I’m never ever going to answer.

We’ve had a marvellous day today. From 8am until 10am we cried. Then we slept for half an hour. Then we cried until 12pm. Then we had another nap for the length of time it took for mummy to heat up some soup and sit down ready to eat it. Then we woke up and cried until mummy stuffed us in the pram and we went out for a couple of hours. Then we got home and cried until we were sick. Everywhere. Then we had tea and mummy cleaned up. Then we cried until we fell asleep. But after that we weren’t too bad.

And then daddy came home and complained that she was being grumbly with him.

I’m having a Baileys tonight.

Fed up now.

There’s not a single position that I can get into any more that leaves me feeling in any way comfortable. To make things even more pleasant the midwife told me last week that it’ll be another week or so before baby’s head even starts to engage, and then things’ll get really uncomfy. Fabulous.

I’ve finished work now, at least. Just before the students came back and things got manic. I’d assumed that as soon as I was at home the nesting instinct would kick in and I’d be able to occupy myself with polishing round the back of the toilet and stuff. But no. The skirting boards are still muttering at me as I walk past. “…lazy bitch…”

Mother came down on Tuesday and took me shopping. We bought a massive box of breast pads and I felt all self-righteous at my bulk-buy foward planning. Then I got home and looked at the little label on the box that said ‘Box contains approx. 1 week’s worth of pads’. A week?! Christ. We also bought a sort of pappouse baby carrier type construction and in the process of trying it out I promptly managed to press the wrong button and send imaginary baby crashing head-first into the kitchen floor. Woops.

Still, slow babies stay cuter for longer.

Silly girl: ”Oh, ok; I need you to hurry. My presentation is in, like, 10 minutes.”

Seriously? You really think that telling someone to hurry up is going to make them do anything other than slow. The. Fuck. Down?

Wow.
